On August 29th the annual AMMA Picnic was another
spectacular success. Over 60 people came to East Hanover’s Lurker Park for a
day of fun, food and games. Students in their family supplied a tasty menu of
burgers, hot dogs, pasta salads and other food, very little of which was left
over by the end of the day.
The
students played a fun series of relay races such as the water balloon toss. In
the three legged race the first race was won by Jerusha and Janice Woodruff,
with the second race won by Sabrina and Randy Krasner. Next came the annual
tug-of-war, with the first contest between the instructors and girls vs. the
boys. The girls and instructors, lead by Shihan pulled and won in a close match.
The second contest was between the adults vs. the students and other children,
with the students pulling a hard fought win.
One of
the AMMA Picnic’s yearly traditions is the softball game. With Shihan acting as
permanent pitcher, Sensei Konner’s team took on Sempai Mario LaPolla’s squad in
this year’s game. In a fun game, Sensei Konner’s team cruised to a 7-4 win after
5 innings of play. We would like to thank all those who came and participated
in this year’s picnic.
